Project: Weatherization of low-income multi-unit residential buildings

This grant provides funding for energy efficient upgrades to existing homes to assist low-income families reduce their energy bills and make their homes more energy efficient. Eligible households are those with a income of less that 200% of the Federal Poverty Line, or approximately $44,000 a year for a family of four. This grant is administered by the U.S. Department of Energy. Please note that this project is administered by an entity other than the City and County of San Francisco and that transparency and accountability measures are managed by the Federal funding source.

How is San Francisco using this grant?
This project will focus on providing weatherization to multi-unit residential buildings, especially single occupancy residence hotels and affordable housing apartment buildings. This will help these units to become more energy efficient and result in cost savings for these low-income residents.

How will this project benefit San Francisco?

Job Creation: Contractors for this project will be graduates of the City’s Workforce training programs, resulting in jobs for economically disadvantaged residents.

Environmental Benefits: This project will reduce the environmental impacts from local energy usage in a measurable way.
