Project: Lead Based Paint Removal
This grant provides funding to local governments and nonprofit organizations to remove lead based paint hazards in low-income housing. This grant is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
How is San Francisco using this grant?
San Francisco will use this grant to provide funding to eligible homeowners to remediate lead hazards in homes rented to low or moderate income families with children under the age of 6.
How will this grant benefit San Francisco?
This grant will provide financial assistance to local homeowners in order to remove lead based paint from area homes, resulting in safer homes for children and benefits to the environment.
Project Status:
To date, 105 homes have been assessed as part of this program and 54 have been enrolled. Through this project 2.43 full time jobs have been created for San Francisco residents. Eligible homeowners may apply for this program through the Mayor’s Office of Housing. For more information, click here.
