This grant provides funding for community and economic development projects including housing and services for those hit hard by tough economic times. It is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

How is San Francisco using this grant?
This grant will be loaned initially to non-profit affordable housing developments applying for Proposition 1C funding. Projects include the creation of 174 supportive housing apartments for homeless individuals, a public heath clinic at Civic Center YMCA and 130 units of affordable family rental housing for Mercy Housing California. Remaining funds will be used for community or economic development projects that benefit low to moderate income residents.

How will this project benefit San Francisco?
These projects will help increase the affordable housing stock in the City and County of San Francisco and provide key services to low-income residents.

Project Status:
Pre-construction planning has begun. Demolition and construction is expected to begin in the next quarter (January through March 2010). Check back soon for project updates.
