This grant provides funding to assist community and/or faith-based nonprofits in providing workforce development services to low income and disadvantaged job seekers with the goals of building their capacity to participate in ARRA efforts and benefits and compete for ARRA funding as well as enhancing their organizational capacity and the quality of their services, and increasing their service delivery to the community. This grant is administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families.
Why did San Francisco apply for this grant?
San Francisco would use this grant to develop a strategic plan for centralized capacity building assistance to nonprofit organizations, noting in particular the challenge of nonprofits that have the potential to meet critical neighborhood and cultural gaps but struggle with leadership, management, and financial issues.
How would this grant benefit San Francisco?
The initiative will serve a minimum of 25 community and/or faith-based nonprofits providing workforce development services to low income and disadvantaged job seekers.
