Employment Training Services for Adults

This grant provides funding to States to facilitate increased training of individuals for high-demand occupations.  Funds will provide workforce services to clients enrolled in Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs. Services include job search resources, job counseling and job training. This grant is administered through the U.S. Department of Labor.

 

How is San Francisco using the grant?

San Francisco will use these funds to improve and expand current WIA programs. This will include increasing the capacity and number of clients served, creating satellite service to expand access to clients, providing training in high-demand sectors and green jobs, enhancing business services and addressing employment barriers to low-income job seekers.

 

How will this project benefit San Francisco?

This project will strengthen the San Francisco workforce, increase residents’ ability to compete for jobs, and build strong connections between workforce training programs and local businesses.

 

Project Status:

The Office of Economic and Workforce Development is in the process of selecting firms to implement these programs.
